Adjustment leads to attitude change

0

KIDquiettime1

I went to get an adjustment at my chiropractor the other day and discovered an added benefit that I had forgotten. It was something that I used to do on my own, but just stopped doing.

Any time my chiropractor adjusts my atlas or axis (bones at the top of your vertebrae), he has you go rest for 10-15 minutes and then rechecks you to make sure you are holding your adjustment. The 10-15 minutes were amazing.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big believer in chiropractic adjustments. I feel and perform so much better when I am in alignment. But I got a much needed bonus during the rest time.

It was 10 minutes of doing absolutely nothing but relaxing. When was the last time you did that?

You are probably like me and almost every minute of your day is spent doing something. Even when I do have a spare second, I tend to get on my phone or find some other distraction.

The combination of the adjustment and that 10 minutes to decompress was amazing. My stress levels went way down, my thoughts were crystal clear, and I was able to tackle my day like a champ afterwards.

I'm betting you have 10 minutes somewhere in your day. Try it out this week. Find 10 minutes to just relax and think.

I'm going to make this a part of my daily routine like I used to. The simple habits are the easiest to let slip, but can be the most effective ones.

Got 5 minutes? Do one of these and make your life better

5MinuteFixes

It's a busy world we live in. When you get really busy, you become overwhelmed and a lot of things start eroding.

Your health is usually the first thing to go, but is more important than anything else. So I came up with 5 things you can do that take 5 minutes, but can improve your life. It can even add years onto your life!

  1. Foam rolling

By spending just 5 minutes rolling around on a foam tube you will feel so much better. It is often called the "poor man's sports massage". Works out sore muscles and improve tissue quality.

  2. Toasty pants

These aren't all scientific, this is just what I do. When it's cold like it is now, this can really help. Throw your pants, socks, and the shirt you are going to wear in the dryer for 5 minutes. By the time they are done, you pull out the clothes, get dressed and you get a warm jump start on raising your overall body temperature.

Great for having an excuse for walking around the house in your underwear too. If you're into that sort of thing...

  3. Get up

This one is pretty simple. Every hour, get up and walk around and stretch for 5 minutes. If you are the type that gets tied up in their work and doesn't know what time it is, set an alarm to remind you. Every hour, do it. Your back, hips, neck, eyes, and energy levels will thank you. Trust me, I failed to do this one and paid for it.

  4. Floss

Seriously! This doesn't even take 5 minutes, unless you have teeth like Gary Busey. Studies have shown that you can add 6 years onto your life by flossing. 6 years! Imagine the shuffle board domination you have to look forward to with all that extra time on the end of your life.

  5. Quiet

Let me ask you a question. When was the last time you had 5 solid minutes of complete silence?

You probably can't even remember. Between TV's, radios, iPods, cell phones, and everything else silence is very rare. Take 5 minutes every day in complete silence. You will be amazed at what it can do for your stress levels. Turn everything off, tune everything out, put the kids in their sound proof room, and just chill.

You can plan out how you are going to attack a problem at work, pray, meditate, clear your mind of all the junk, or whatever you choose to do. Works wonders for improving thought clarity as well.

It probably only took you about 5 minutes to read this, so you have plenty of time to start putting these into your daily routine.

Negativity Detox Series

No-Haters-Button-(0992)

Let’s face it. We are living in a Golden Age of haters. TV, radio, movies are all chock full of conflict and negativity.

And then there is the capital city of Haterdelphia, the Internet. Which is basically a breeding ground for a super species of negative people who feed off of making people upset.

Quick tip- If you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face, don’t put it on the Internet.

So here’s is what I came up with to combat all the stress and negativity that we are surrounded with.

A Negativity Detox Program

One of our most successful programs is the 21 Day Belly Blast program that detoxes your body of processed and junk foods. That works great, but if you are stressed you will not be able to lose fat.

Chances are very good that you have a lot of stress in your life right now.  It is just the world we live in.

Over the next 10 weeks I will offer one challenge every Monday for the week. The purpose of these challenges will be to purge you of the negative influences in your life and replace them with new positive thoughts and actions.

To many of you this may sound silly, I understand. But if you are willing to trust me and just give it a try, you will be amazed at how much better you will feel.

First Week Challenge

Might as well start with one of the toughest ones first. When you are riding in the car this week, do not listen to the radio, talk on the cell phone, text, or anything other than drive.

A lot of the stress we have in our lives is from sensory overload. Stop what you are doing right now and just pay attention to all that is going on around you right now. AC blowing, radio on, people talking, lights flashing, etc…

There is a lot going on! You may not notice it, but your body does and all of that adds up. Give your body a break.

Now if you have to handle work or kid related things in the car, I understand. Do what you gotta do, but stick to the plan when you can.

The goal is to get 30 minutes/day of quiet time. You can do that at home or anywhere else as well. The car just seems to be the easiest place for most people.

Use that time to plan out your day or week, plan your meals for the day, pray, meditate, problem solve, or whatever you deem appropriate.

You will be amazed at how much clearer your thoughts are without Ke$ha blasting in the background. That 30 minutes a day of focused time can make a huge impact on your life.

I'm doing this plan right along with you. So if you need some support and someone to keep you accountable reach out to me. I will be struggling just like you!

I am looking forward to the next 10 weeks with you, glad you are on board.

Do this for 5 minutes and you can add 6 years to your life
